Our story

From one family's herd to a highland cooperative.

Monowi Dairy Farm was never meant to be a big business. It started as a way to keep a small herd healthy, well-fed, and honestly milked — everything since has grown from that same instinct.

2014 · The beginning

Three cows, one hillside, no shortcuts.

Monowi began with three dairy cows on a family plot above Mangalali Village. There was no plan to sell milk commercially — the goal was simply to raise healthy animals on good pasture, the highland way, without the shortcuts common on the plains below.

Neighbours started asking to buy the extra milk. Within two years, the herd had grown, and so had the question: could this feed more than one family?

What we hold to

Three things we won't compromise on.

Honest milk

No dilution, no shortcuts on chilling time, no unlabeled additives. What's on the bottle is what's in it.

Fair to farmers

Every partner farmer is paid a published rate, on time, regardless of how large or small their herd is.

Kind to the land

Rotational grazing, composted manure, and rainwater harvesting keep the highland pasture healthy for the next herd.

Meet the people

Run by the Mangalali farming community, for it.

Monowi is owned by the founding family and governed jointly with representatives from our partner farms — decisions about pricing, expansion, and land use are made together, not handed down.
